In reality, this is yet another manipulation by Russian propagandists. President Volodymyr Zelensky gave his New Year’s speech near the Mother Ukraine monument in Kyiv. For most of the speech, the monument was lit in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. During the moments when Zelensky spoke about Ukraine’s allies and thanked them for their support, the monument was illuminated in the colors of the flags of other countries, including the United States. At that moment, Volodymyr Zelensky said: “Because our friends are with us. And from the first minutes of this war, America was with Ukraine. And I believe that in the first minutes of peace America will be with Ukraine”.
