Ukrainian citizens were not offered to pay the state debt in the app of public services Diya. In a comment to StopFake, the press service of the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry stated that they never sent such messages.

Kremlin media and users of social networks began to spread fake information that Ukrainian citizens are allegedly offered to join in on repaying the national debt. The proof of the information is photos with such messages, which were allegedly sent to Ukrainians on the online public services application Diya.

“Ukrainian citizens are offered to pay off the national debt. The country’s government found an excellent way out of the situation: citizens who stayed in Ukraine should help the state. The Diya application offers to transfer 5,000 hryvnias. That must be the final straw,” users write.

After the spread of such information, StopFake decided to check whether Ukrainians were really asked to pay off the national debt through Diya. As it turned out, this information is not true.

In the screenshots shared by propaganda, it can be seen that the message on the Diya app allegedly was sent on November 7, 2023. We tried to find the mentioned information for this month on the official website and Facebook page of the online service, but never saw such a request. There is no such news on the website of the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry, which is responsible for the Diya app.

Although StopFake did not find any official communications on this issue from the Ukrainian government, we also decided to contact the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry directly with an information request. We asked whether Ukrainians were really sent the request on Diya about which the Russian media and users write. The press service told us that this is not true.

“Yes, it is a fake. Diya has never sent such messages,” the agency replied.

Earlier, StopFake refuted information that Diya will start charging a fee for signing up an account.
