Propagandists edited the caption on the photo. Original post was describing the burial of two civilians tortured by the Russian occupiers.

Pro-Russian sources are mass-spreading a screenshot of a publication in social networks where the Ukrainian military allegedly brags about killing civilians in the Kursk region.

«In this pit lie an old man and his grandson, who decided to oppose us» — this is the caption accompanying the photo of the self-made grave.

However, this publication was fabricated by propagandists. First, «The Price of the State» («Ціна держави»), who allegedly published this post, is an educational project of the analytical center CASE Ukraine about economics and taxes. Thus, it is not clear why the first-person publications from military personnel would be posted on this page. And secondly, we managed to find the original publication with such a photo — in it, «The Price of the State» shared the fundraiser for cars to perform combat tasks for the 61st brigade. The description of the photo reads: «This photo from the village that was just liberated by the fighters of the 61st Brigade is a consequence of the Russian’s presence. Namely, the tortured bodies of an elderly man and his son were buried in a pit.» The publication did not specify where exactly the picture was taken. The propagandists completely distorted the meaning of the original post in order to pass off the war crimes of the Russian army as the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Previously, the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region was also baselessly accused of looting and using Nazi symbols — we have already refuted these fakes in previous articles.
