Russian news agency RIA News on the 9th March stated that the soldiers in Crimea are not getting their salary for more than a month and there is no information whatsoever on where to find the money for them. They received this information from an unknown “Cabinet of Ukraine” representative. He also stated that there was a closed meeting where the Acting minister of defence Igor Tenyukh was supposedly reporting on “food shortage”.
However, StopFake has received a disproof from Crimean Regional Ministry of Defence media center.
Crimean Regional M.O.D. press center representative said “This is not true. People did get their salary. Now according to our colleagues from Kiev they should receive another one before the 15th March as a bonus”
This was confirmed by Igor Tenyukh’s statement on the M.O.D. of Ukraine website. He claimed that there is a constant communication with commanders of military units and that they are provided with all the necessities.
Moreover, Ukranews gave information based on Ukrainian News Agency “Ukrayinski Novyny” that the Cabinet of Ukraine is planning to allocate 125 UAH million as a one-off help to the soldiers in Crimea. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has instructed the responsible authorities to implement the decision immediately and to control the funding.
“Ukrayinski Novyny” have given even more detailed information “According to instruction the funds were allocated for additional payment to soldiers of the Armed Forces, Internal troops of Ministry of Internal affairs and Administration of the State Border Service that are serving in Crimea.
The Cabinet of Ukraine instructed the Ministry of Finance to 50% of the full amount from the FX reserves to the Armed Forces, Internal troops of Ministry of Internal affairs and Administration of the State Border Service. The other 50% are to be taken from the expenditures of the state budget on those institutions.
Armed Forces, Internal troops of Ministry of Internal affairs and Administration of the State Border Service are supposed to present a report to the Ministry of Finance and State Treasury Service of Ukraine on the use of these funds before the 1st June.
It was previously reported by RBC Ukraine that the food is being supplied to the blocked military units in Crimea without let or hindrance. Andriy Parubiy National Security and Defence Council secretary gave this information during a briefing in the Supreme Council of Ukraine “Verkhovna Rada” . He also said that the blockage is “suppositive” because they are able to bring food to military units.
