January 25, Russian NTV Channel website posted news piece titled “Duma compared Mariupol shelling with Volnovakha and Boeing tragedies”. The article quoted the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the “Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and links with compatriots” Leonid Slutsky on OSCE allegedly concluding the shelling of Mariupol had been performed from Ukrainian positions.
Accurding to Leonid Slutsky, “the recent shelling of Ukraine’s Mariupol is another provocation of Ukraine’s military in order to accuse the militia once again and to fail the Minsk agreements”, that, “the shells arrived from Ukraine’s military”, “do not prefer to note them, putting things upside down, and again accusing Moscow”.
The official OSCE website states different: “The SMM conducted a crater analysis and its initial assessment showed that the impacts were caused by Grad and Uragan rockets. According to the impact analysis, the Grad rockets originated from a north-easterly direction, in the area of Oktyabr (19 km north-east of Olimpiiska Street), and the Uragan rockets from an easterly direction, in the area of Zaichenko (15 km east of Olimpiiska Street), both controlled by the “Donetsk People’s Republic” (“DPR”).”
