The statement about the proposal of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resettle the population of Gaza to Ukraine and Syria is a fake.

Social media users are spreading a statement, made at the White House by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He allegedly proposed to resettle one and a half million Gaza residents to Ukraine and Syria.

«While Ukrainians flee to Europe, the West decides where to settle migrants from Palestine,» — this is how the propaganda comments on this news.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not propose to resettle Gaza residents to Ukraine or Syria.

On April 7, 2025, after meeting with Donald Trump at the White House, Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement that was misinterpreted and quickly spread on social media. In reality, the Israeli Prime Minister was comparing the situation of Gaza people to the situation of the population in other war zones, including Ukraine and Syria, where people were able to leave the country.

In particular, Netanyahu said the following:

«I think the president was talking about giving people a choice, first of all. You know, the people of Gaza were locked up. And in any other place where there was a clash, I mean, whether it was Ukraine, Syria or anywhere else, people could leave. Gaza was the only place where they were locked up. And we didn’t lock them up. What’s wrong with giving people a choice?»

It is also worth noting that while discussing real plans for the possible resettlement of Palestinians, other countries were indeed mentioned, such as Somalia, Morocco, and Sudan. Yet Ukraine was never mentioned in this context.
