The video story cited by the propagandists was fabricated. The letter from the Embassy does not exist, and the footage used in the story is more than a month old. In fact, it was filmed in Dijon, when farmers during a protest poured manure on the regional council building.

The news spread in Russian telegram channels and media that during the protests in Paris, French farmers allegedly clashed with the Ukrainian side. It is reported that they pelted the Ukrainian embassy with manure in response to diplomats’ request to stop the protests. The farmers also allegedly stated that Ukraine has no right to ask or demand anything from the state, whose money it has been relying on for two years. The propagandists refer to a video story allegedly published by Euronews.

The narrative that Ukraine exists only at the expense of Western partners is suspiciously similar to Russian propaganda. Therefore, StopFake decided to verify this story and established that it is yet another fake. First, Euronews did not publish such a story — it is not on the project’s website or social networks (Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), etc.). Secondly, the document with the request of Ukrainian diplomats to stop the protests was also fabricated. Ukrainian Embassy denied the existence of such a letter and stated that neither the form of the letter is the official form of the Embassy, nor the style of the document.

The diplomatic mission only publishes information about cooperation between the two states, and does not interfere in the domestic political situation in the country. Thirdly, the building shown in the first seconds of the video is not the building of the Ukrainian Embassy in Paris. The actual embassy building has a different architectural plan, entrance group, and is built of cream-colored brick. In addition, it is located at avenue de Saxe, 21, and the number 17 is clearly visible in the first frames of the video. The footage used in the story is more than a month old. It was filmed in Dijon, when farmers during a protest poured manure on the regional council building.

Recently, the fabrication of videos from supposedly credible international sources has become one of the favorite techniques of propagandists.
