The Russian publication Pravda.ru published a story claiming that Bulgaria invited the president of Turkey Recep Erdogan instead of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the commemoration of Ottoman Liberation, a national holiday that Bulgaria marks on March 3.

Pravda.ru cites the Bulgarian Times as the source for this story, the Bulgarian times however names the Podoko.eu site as the source.

The Podoko site does not list any contacts. The site is updated three-four times daily.

Presently Erdogan is on an official visit to Guinea. The Bulgarian publication could not confirm StopFake’s request about Erdogan’s invitation to Bulgaria nor could they say whom the Turkish president would meet with from the Bulgarian government.

Shortly thereafter the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry published a statement saying that Bulgaria had not invited neither Putin nor Erdogan, only diplomatic representatives were taking part in the commemoration.

Gazeta.ru, Moskovskyi Komsomolets and other Russian web sites also published this fake report.
