The Serbian publication Slobodni Mediji published a story entitled Chaos in Slovakia. Anti-NATO protests set Bratislava ablaze. The article describes riots against NATO in the Slovak capital, which seemingly pitted those who support NATO against those protesters who want closer cooperation with Russia and Vladimir Putin. Slobodni Mediji claims that the city was swathed in smoke from burning tires and western media were completely silent about these events.
It’s no wonder western media are silent about this fake riot, after all there were no anti-NATO protests in Bratislava. The photograph Slobodni Mediji uses to illustrate this fake is a March 2015 photo of the anti-government protests in Frankfurt. This photograph has no connection to Bratislava at all.
Established in 2014 Slobodni Mediji has positioned itself as an independent media source, however recently it has received negative criticism from its readers for featuring fake and heavily pro-Russian news.
Slobodni Mediji publishes fake news in favor of Russia, its main page contains links to Russia Today.
Who owns the Arctic?
Canadian Prime Minister shocks the west: say what you want, but Putin is right – this was a recent Slobodni Mediji headline of a story based on a Huffington Post interview with Justin Trudeau. The Canadian prime minister allegedly discussed Vladimir Putin’s claim that the Arctic circle is Russian territory. Slobodni Mediji wrote that “Trudeau agrees with Putin in this territorial dispute”.
In the original interview in the Huffington Post Trudeau said that Putin does not determine who owns the North Pole and science has the ultimate say in drawing national boundaries
