Russian mass media (presumably NTV channel) announced in the news item concerning seizure and interrogation of Ukrainian female pilot Nadiya Savchenko that Ukrainian soldiers killed their own men who tried to put down arms and to retire from the battlefield.
“Yet they do not allow to put down arms and to withdraw. The command “not a step backward” is used far and wide. Chastisers have a “zero tolerance” policy for those who do not want to shoot at their brothers”, states a voiceover.
In support of this journalists show a Ukrainian military man who is saying the following: “As soon as any fighter of our unit leaves the perimeter of this enclosure with such thoughts, I will shoot him either in the head or in the back of the head with my own hand” (starts from 3:29 in the video).

In fact the soldier’s statement was taken out of context and distorted. Here is the full record (starting at 3:25):
This video shows a private soldier of the battalion “Aidar” Volodymyr Kosolap, who talks with a journalist of Ukrainian Internet channel “Hromadske TV” Anastasiya Stanko. She asks him in Ukrainian:
“Look, yesterday Lifenews showed that men of your battalion came to houses and shot people”.
Kosolap answers her:
“All this is disinformation. There is nothing like that and yesterday I, as an inhabitant of this city, went to my commander and said: “As soon as any fighter of our unit leaves the perimeter of this enclosure with such thoughts, I will shoot him either in the head or in the back of the head with my own hand if he returns here”.
As you can see, the Kosolap’s words means that he is ready to kill those who will try to sack peaceful people, but not those who will put down arms.
