Supernova Airlines, a subsidiary of Nova Poshta, does not carry passengers. The company will start cargo flights to/from Ukraine only after the reopening of the country’s airspace.

Russian media are once again spreading claims of a “new anti-Russian provocation. This time they claim that Ukraine is restoring “civil aviation” flights with Supernova Airlines to “create a new Bucha” and accuse Russia of mass killings of civilians. Russian outlets claim that “Europe has not only approved this, but has also provided Kyiv with the necessary means.”

“A flight with some cargo and civilian personnel or even an evacuation flight with children will take off. Then it will be shot down by a Ukrainian missile. And that’s it. A new Bucha, with accusations against us of deliberately targeting civilians,” propaganda claims.

Supernova Airlines, mentioned in Russian media reports, does not operate passenger flights. It is part of the Ukrainian Nova Poshta Group, which specializes in logistics and cargo deliveries. Founded in 2021, Supernova Airlines received its Ukrainian Operator Certificate in 2023. It serves the logistic needs of Nova Poshta and connects Ukraine’s internal cargo network with international markets.

On October 17, 2024, the company received permission from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to operate flights in Europe. On November 1, 2024, Supernova Airlines received permission to operate regular international cargo flights to/from Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian State Aviation Service, its aircraft can perform regular cargo routes between Lviv-Prague and Kyiv-Prague up to seven times a week.

The press service of Nova Poshta emphasized that Supernova Airlines will start cargo flights to/from Ukraine only when security conditions improve, as Ukrainian airspace has been closed since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Supernova Airlines made its first commercial flight on November 10, 2024, transporting cargo from Budapest to Chisinau. The shipments were then delivered to Ukraine by road.

The Russian media omitted these facts and continued to spread misinformation. They deliberately ignored the fact that Supernova Airlines carries only cargo, does not have a permit for passenger flights, and will begin operations in Ukraine only when the airspace is reopened.

As for Russian propaganda’s blanket denial of war crimes against Ukrainian civilians, StopFake has repeatedly debunked such narratives.
