In reality, Reuters did not publish such images. It is likely that the attackers took the photos themselves in a random location and added the logo of the news agency in the photo editor.
Pictures allegedly taken on the banks of the Tisza River are being shared by Russian sources. They depict a spontaneous memorial, supposedly dedicated to men who were shot by border guards while trying to illegally cross the Ukrainian border. In the river there are flowers, paper boats, as well as the inscriptions «Tysa is Styx» and «forgive us for everything». The pictures were allegedly published by Reuters news agency.
However, these photos are staged. Despite the presence of Reuters watermarks, these images are not available on the website of the news agency. Moreover, there are no results on the web for the name of the photographer who allegedly took these pictures — Horatiu Negrescu, nor any reports about this «memorial» in any credible sources. Moreover, on the screenshot distributed by the propagandists, it is indicated that the photos from the Tisza River were published on the Reuters website on May 26 and were included in the Pictures of the Day section. However, this column is published on the site only on weekdays, and May 26 was a Sunday, so there is no publication for that day. Instead, on Monday, December 27, three photos from Ukraine made it to the headlines: in the first one, a Ukrainian serviceman launches a reconnaissance drone to fly over the positions of enemy troops in Zaporizhzhia, and the other two show the consequences of the Russian shelling of Kharkiv region. Therefore, there is no evidence that these photos were actually taken near the Tisza River. It is likely that the attackers took the photos themselves in a random location and added the logo of the news agency in the photo editor.
