This “news” is spread only by Russian media and Telegram channels. A search for such information in the Israeli media and other sources yielded no results. Obviously, the “news” was invented by Russian propaganda to discredit Ukrainians in the context of the war in Israel.
Russian media outlets are spreading fake news that three Ukrainians were allegedly detained in Israel for looting.
Referring to the Russian Telegram channel, propaganda writes that people who were robbing a store were detained in the center of Sderot, and that they were three Ukrainian citizens.
“They were looting an electronics store and were detained by the Israeli military,” one of the Kremlin’s websites writes.
It is worth noting that only Russian media and pro-Russian Telegram channels spread this “news”. At the same time, the Telegram channel itself, which is listed as the original source, does not have such a post.
StopFake also searched Israeli media and English-language sources and found no such information anywhere. This “news” is also being spread on social media only with reference to Russian media. StopFake sent a request to the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel to find out if they are aware of this incident. At the time of publication, we have not yet received a response. Obviously, the propaganda made up this news to discredit Ukrainians using the topic of the war in Israel.
The city of Sderot in the context of Ukraine is mentioned only in the news about the successful evacuation of a Ukrainian boy who was injured during a Hamas terrorist attack on Israel. On October 13, the Israeli authorities decided to evacuate all residents of Sderot, which is located a few kilometers from the border with the Gaza Strip and is subject to massive rocket attacks from Gaza.
