Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not issued any statements about any counteroffensive “failure”. He has stressed that the war in Ukraine is “not a Hollywood movie” and that the lives of Ukrainian citizens are at stake.
Russian media are massively spreading fakes claiming that Ukrainian President and Supreme Commander Volodymyr Zelensky has admitted to being “disappointed” with the country’s military counter-offensive. Pro-Kremlin media allege that Zelensky “admitted that Ukrainian military operations were “a failure” because “the Ukrainian offensive, which began in early June, has not yielded significant results for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, nor to a breakthrough in the Russian military defenses.”

President Volodymyr Zelensky has not made any statements about a Ukrainian military counter-offensive “failure,” nor has he said anything about being “disappointed” with the Ukrainian Army’s military operations. What Kremlin propagandists call “Zelensky’s recognition of Ukrainian failures,” is nothing more than yet another example of Russian media taking phrases out of context and distorting them to produce this latest fake, the source of which is Zelensky’s recent interview with the BBC.
President Zelensky has never said anything about the “failure” of the Ukrainian operation – this is a Russian fake. On the contrary, Zelensky expressed optimism about the effectiveness of the Ukrainian army against the Russian invaders and stressed that the Ukrainian military” will advance on the battlefield as [at such a pace] as they see fit.” He also emphasized that the war in Ukraine is “not a Hollywood movie” and that the lives of Ukrainian citizens are at stake.
“Some people think it’s a Hollywood movie and they’re expecting immediate results. That’s not how it is… Whatever some people want, including attempts to put pressure on us, with all due respect, we will advance on the battlefield as we see fit… People’s lives are at stake,” Zelenskyy pointed out.
Ukraine’s President also explained that one of the reasons for the careful and gradual Ukrainian counter- forces is that swathes of occupied territory being taken back is filled with mines that the invading Russian army has planted. According to Zelensky, Russia mined some 200,000 square kilometers, a third of the Ukraine’s territory. He also positively assessed the Ukrainian army’s progress.
